Hope was found stray roaming the streets with her mama, Grace. She was severely underweight, had intestinal parasites, parvo and kennel cough. Her kennel cough developed into pneumonia and it was touch and go for a while. She pulled through and has gained weight and is on her way to being healthy! :) Hope is a gentle girl, who is quick to learn and doesn't get into much trouble for a puppy! She loves all the dogs here, and has learned to be very gentle with the kitties. One of her favorite things is to be picked up and hugged. Then she wraps her arms around your neck and gives you big kisses! Hurry and adopt Hope while she still has puppy breath!!
UPDATE: Dec. 9, 2006: Just when we thought poor Hope had been through it all! Within a week, she developed what is believed to be an osteochondroma on her skull and had to undergo emergency surgery to remove it. Click here to read more about this condition BENIGN BONE TUMORS IN THE DOG There is the possibility that it could come back, but the surgeon believes he removed it completely. She will need several weeks to recover from her surgery. To donate to Hope's care, please visit our home page and click on the donate button. UPDATE: Dec. 27, 2006: Hope had a sudden bone growth on her forehead. Originally it was thought to possibly be an osteochondroma or osteosarcoma. She had a large bone growth removed, and the biopsy (done THREE times) came back that it was neither of these problems, but rather that she had had a trauma to her head that separated the bone from the periosteum (bone sheath covering), and that the flat bone had grown more bone to fill in the space. The problem should NOT return, but we will have confirmation of that in early January.
Hope has been adopted by the same family from Goose Creek, SC who adopted Greta. Hope (now named Sweety) is doing very well in her new home. She weighs 110 lbs. now and loves to go for walks at night with her family.
